Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged his administration’s full support for the expansion of the Core Group Partners Project (CGPP) into nutrition and maternal and child health programmes across the state.
Radda gave the assurance during an advocacy meeting with a delegation from the CGPP Global Office led by its Deputy Global Director, Ahmed Arale.
The governor commended Save the Children and the Core Group Partners Project for their long-standing partnership with the state, describing the planned expansion as timely.

“I appreciate Save the Children and the Core Group Partners Project for their continued support to Katsina State over the years. The expansion into nutrition and maternal and child health is timely because our state is in critical need of interventions in these areas,” he said.
Radda assured the delegation of his administration’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the programme across the benefiting local government areas.
“My administration is fully committed to supporting this initiative, and we will provide our maximum support to ensure the successful implementation of the project,” he added.
Speaking during the meeting, the Katsina State Project Manager of the Core Group Partners Project, Abubakar Ahmad, said Save the Children had worked in Katsina State for more than 15 years, supporting government efforts in health, nutrition, education, child protection and humanitarian interventions.
He said the expansion into nutrition and maternal and child health builds on the successes already recorded by the project.
“Building on the successes recorded over the years, CGPP is expanding its interventions into nutrition and maternal and child health to respond to the growing needs of women and children in Katsina State,” Ahmad said.
Also speaking, the Deputy Global Director of CGPP, Ahmed Arale, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Katsina State Government.
He expressed confidence that closer collaboration with the government, communities and other stakeholders would improve immunisation, nutrition, maternal and child health services, as well as primary healthcare delivery to vulnerable populations.
The Director of the CGPP Secretariat, Dr. Lami Samail, said the expansion reflects the organisation’s commitment to addressing emerging community health needs while consolidating the gains recorded in polio eradication.
She stressed the importance of community ownership in sustaining the programme and improving health outcomes for women and children.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Katsina State Government, Save the Children and the Core Group Partners Project to strengthening primary healthcare services, improving nutrition and expanding access to life-saving healthcare interventions across the state.
