Police Foil Bandit Attack in Musawa, Recover AK-47

-

Police operatives and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps have foiled an alleged bandit attack on Sabon Gulbi village in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing one suspected bandit and recovering an AK-47 rifle.

The Katsina State Police Command said the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at about 5 p.m., after it received a distress call that armed bandits had invaded the community.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Divisional Police Officer in Musawa immediately led a joint tactical team of police operatives and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to the affected village.

The team reportedly engaged the attackers in a gun battle and successfully repelled the assault.

The police said one of the suspected bandits was killed during the encounter, while several others fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing five live rounds of ammunition and an operational motorcycle, according to the statement.

The command said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage commended the security personnel for their courage and cooperation during the operation, while also praising the timely intelligence that enabled the security forces to respond swiftly to the attack.

He assured residents of the command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Katsina State.

The commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station.
