The Board of the Katsina State Radio and Television Service (KTRTV) on Thursday approved the promotion of 16 senior staff of Katsina State Radio Service (KTRS) and Katsina State Television (KTTV), following recommendations by the Senior Management Committees of the two stations.
The approvals were granted at the Board’s 6th meeting, convened as the deferred second quarter meeting of 2026, held at the office of the General Manager of KTTV in Katsina.

The promoted officers comprise six from KTTV and ten from Katsina State Radio, while the Board also approved acting appointments for one senior administrative officer in each station. The promotions take effect from January 1, 2026.

The Board noted that the promotion exercise was conducted in accordance with the approved Schemes of Service, the Guidelines for Appointments, Promotion and Discipline in the Katsina State Public Service, relevant Public Service Rules and other extant government circulars. It observed that all the officers met the prescribed conditions, including minimum years on grade level, qualifications, Annual Performance Evaluation Reports (APERs), promotional examinations, conduct, discipline and availability of vacancies.
In his opening address, the Chairman of the Board, Malam Ahmed Abdulkadir, apologised to members for the inability to hold the meeting within the second quarter as required, explaining that it had been postponed following a request by the management of KTTV.
He recalled that a similar situation affected the previous Board meeting and urged members and management to make every effort to ensure that future Board meetings are held within their respective quarters to promote effective oversight and timely decision-making.

The Chairman commended Board members for their continued commitment and steadfast support, noting that their contributions had enabled the Board to provide strategic direction to the state’s broadcasting organisations despite the challenges facing the industry.
He also expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded at Katsina State Radio following the completion of solar power installations at the headquarters and the Dutsinma Transmission Station, describing the project as a major intervention that has improved operational stability and significantly extended transmission hours.
Malam Abdulkadir further expressed optimism over the ongoing digitisation and modernisation of KTTV through the procurement and installation of new digital broadcasting equipment approved by the Katsina State Government.
He, however, reiterated the Board’s concern over the persistent shortage of professional staff resulting from retirements and the deployment of experienced personnel to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), stressing that investment in human resources must complement investment in modern infrastructure.
During the meeting, the General Manager of Katsina State Radio, Alhaji Lawal Attahiru Bakori, briefed the Board on the station’s operational activities, including the gains recorded from the solar power project and other ongoing improvements.

The General Manager of KTTV, Alhaji Abba Zayyanu, also presented a progress report on the station’s digitisation programme and other operational developments, informing members that installation of the newly procured digital broadcasting equipment was progressing.
Following deliberations on the reports, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the transformation of both stations into modern, efficient and sustainable public broadcasting institutions capable of delivering quality information, education and entertainment to the people of Katsina State.
At the end of the meeting, members of the Board, led by the Chairman, Malam Ahmed Abdulkadir, were conducted on an inspection tour of the newly installed digital broadcasting equipment at KTTV. The Board members were taken through the facilities by the station’s General Manager, Abba Zayyan, who briefed them on the capabilities of the equipment and the progress made in the station’s digitisation programme.

The meeting also considered other management and administrative matters affecting the two organisations before adjourning.
