Katsina Ministry Monitors Drug Distribution to PHCs Across Senatorial Districts

-

The Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs has conducted a statewide monitoring exercise on the distribution of drugs procured under the revolving scheme for Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the three senatorial districts.

The exercise aimed to assess how the drugs were handed over to local government authorities, as well as to evaluate distribution processes, storage conditions, inventory management, and the quality of the supplies.

Leading the monitoring in Katsina Central Senatorial District, the Commissioner for the Ministry, Hon. Bishir Tanimu, represented by the Director of Administration and Supply, Alhaji Bello Isah Fago, alongside Director of Works, Engineer Umar Faroukh Abdullahi, inspected facilities and distribution procedures.

In the Funtua Zone, the exercise was supervised by the Special Adviser on Local Government Inspectorate, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana, with support from the Director of Common Services, Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Yar’adua, and Director of Budget, Alhaji Babangida Aminu.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Mas’udu Almustapha Banye, led the monitoring in Daura Zone, assisted by the Director of Inspection, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali Umar, and Director of Political Affairs, Alhaji Sa’adu Abdullahi Dankama.

Across the three senatorial districts, the monitoring teams were taken round central drug stores by Directors of Administration and Finance, as well as Resident Inspectors of the respective local government areas.

The team leaders confirmed that the drugs were properly handed over to designated LGA officials, adequately stored, and that inventory records were complete and intact.

Addressing PHC directors in the various local government areas, the monitoring teams stated that the exercise was designed to ensure that drug supplies align with contractual specifications and are properly documented and fit for use.

They also urged officials to ensure prompt and transparent distribution of the drugs to benefiting PHCs in the presence of village-level community leaders, Community Development Committee representatives, and other key stakeholders.

The Commissioner, Hon. Bishir Tanimu, Special Adviser Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana, and Permanent Secretary Alhaji Mas’udu Almustapha Banye commended local government officials for adhering to proper procedures in handling and distributing the drugs across the 34 local government areas of the state.
