Katsina Governor Inspects KTTV Digital Upgrade, Says Project Will Boost Revenue

-

KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing upgrade of Katsina State Television Authority to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), saying the project will enhance broadcast quality and improve the station’s commercial viability.

The governor made this known during an inspection of the facility, where he assessed the progress of work and the quality of equipment installed as part of the digital transition project.

The upgrade includes the installation of a 5KW main transmitter, a 3.2KW standby transmitter, and a 30KVA solar-powered backup system aimed at boosting transmission capacity and ensuring uninterrupted service.

Radda, who was conducted round the facility by the General Manager of KTTV, Abba Zayyan, described the inspection as a preliminary assessment and commended the standard of equipment deployed.

“From what we have seen, the quality of equipment installed is commendable and meets modern broadcasting requirements,” he said, adding that the project would significantly improve service delivery across the state.

The governor also praised engineers and technical personnel handling the project for their professionalism and commitment.

During the visit, he toured key sections of the station, including studios and the transmitter room, while calling for a comprehensive renovation of the entire facility to align with modern broadcasting standards.

He stressed that the digital upgrade should mark a turning point for KTTV, positioning it to become more efficient, competitive, and financially sustainable.

“With the level of investment committed, the station must be run in a way that generates revenue and contributes to the state’s economic growth,” Radda said.

Earlier, Zayyan highlighted progress made on the project, while a representative of DM Broadcast, Marco, said the installed systems are designed to meet global standards.
