Governor Radda Inaugurates Board of State-Owned Amana Microfinance Bank

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has inaugurated the board of the state-owned Amana Microfinance Bank as part of efforts to reposition the institution for full operations in line with regulations of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The move is aimed at restructuring the bank to enhance financial inclusion, support small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs), and reduce dependence on commercial banks.

Speaking at the inauguration, the governor described members of the board as individuals of integrity and professional competence, expressing confidence in their ability to drive the growth and sustainability of the bank.

He disclosed that the state government has recapitalised the bank to the tune of about ₦1 billion, alongside implementing key reforms to expand its financial services and improve access to credit for businesses.

The newly inaugurated board is chaired by Alhaji Muntaka Badaru Jikamshi, with Umar Zubairu serving as Managing Director. Other members include Hon. Malik Anas, Mohammed Lawal Mukhtar (Independent Director), Dr. Mohammed Bashir Ruwa-Godiya, Dr. Bello Mohammed (Independent Director), and Hajiya Badiyya Hassan Mashi, while Hajiya Bilkisu Mohammed will serve as an observer.

In his acceptance speech, Jikamshi commended the governor’s vision for economic development, particularly the establishment of the Katsina State Enterprises Development Agency, which he described as a critical step toward boosting entrepreneurship and business growth in the state.

He assured that the board would work diligently to ensure the success and long-term viability of the bank.
