Gov. Radda Donates ₦2 Million to Katsina Ramadan Charity Initiative

-

The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has donated ₦2 million to support a community-driven Ramadan charity initiative in the state.

The donation was announced on the ninth day of Ramadan by Muhammad Danjuma Katsina, founder of a prominent Katsina-based WhatsApp forum that has, over the years, coordinated humanitarian activities during the fasting period.

In a message shared with members, Danjuma extended Ramadan greetings and prayers for the acceptance of good deeds, revealing that the foundation of the group had received the ₦2 million contribution from Governor Radda. He prayed for divine reward and success for the governor in his charitable efforts.

The WhatsApp group, which brings together influential figures across Katsina, including journalists, professionals, business leaders and public officials, has become known for its structured Ramadan interventions. Several years ago, members established committees that raise funds annually to provide meals for the less privileged at iftar, as well as assist in securing the release of inmates jailed over unpaid fines or debts, excluding those convicted of criminal offences.

This year’s activities are already underway, with various committees reportedly carrying out feeding programmes and other support services across parts of the state.

Governor Radda’s donation is expected to strengthen the scale of this year’s outreach, which aims to cushion the hardship faced by vulnerable residents during Ramadan. Community members have described the gesture as a significant boost to ongoing humanitarian efforts in Katsina.
