FUDMA, Livestock Ministry Seal Plans for Strategic Agribusiness Partnership

-

The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has moved to deepen collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development in a bid to strengthen agribusiness, research, and student training.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the university’s leadership in Abuja, the Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to partner with academic institutions to unlock the economic potential of livestock production.
He urged universities to embrace commercial agriculture alongside teaching and research, noting that functional university farms could serve as both training grounds and revenue sources.

Maiha also disclosed ongoing collaboration with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to integrate rangeland management into university curricula, while pledging support for programme accreditation and development.
FUDMA Vice-Chancellor, Mohammed Khalid Othman, highlighted the university’s pioneering Livestock Extension programme and appealed for federal support to resolve accreditation challenges.
