FUDMA Expels One Student, Rusticates 51 Over Examination Misconduct

-

The Senate of Federal University Dutsin-Ma has approved the expulsion of one student and the rustication of 51 others over examination misconduct during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The decision was taken at the university’s 139th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 5, 2026, and presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Mohammed Khalid Othman.

According to a special bulletin issued by the institution, the disciplinary action was in line with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3(c) of the university’s Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconduct.

The university stated that the affected students were found culpable after appearing before FUDMA’s Committee on Examination Misconduct, which recommended sanctions subsequently approved by the Senate.

The latest sanctions bring the total number of students disciplined for examination-related offences to 72, following an earlier batch of 20 students rusticated in March 2026.

The rustication, which will last for two semesters, takes effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The affected students were drawn from several faculties, including Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computing, and the College of Education.

One of the students was expelled, while others were sanctioned for various forms of examination malpractice.

The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and enforcing disciplinary measures against acts capable of undermining the credibility of its academic standards.

The statement was signed by Nasiru M. Abdul, Director of Information and Protocol.
