The management of the School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS), Funtua, under Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has introduced an online remedial programme aimed at expanding access to quality pre-degree education through flexible learning.
The initiative, announced in a special bulletin issued by the university, will enable prospective candidates to choose between the conventional on-campus mode of study and a newly introduced online option, allowing students to participate in lectures remotely from their homes.
According to the bulletin, lectures for the online programme will be delivered entirely through the school’s Learning Management System (LMS), while practical sessions and examinations will be conducted physically at designated and approved centres based on the geographical distribution of registered candidates.
The programme will run for a duration of nine months.
The university stated that candidates who successfully complete the programme and meet the prescribed minimum admission requirements will be eligible for admission into various degree programmes of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The online remedial programme is scheduled to commence in the 2026/2027 academic session, with the sale of admission forms expected to begin in July 2026.
The management urged suitably qualified candidates to take advantage of the new learning option, describing it as an innovative and flexible pathway to higher education.
