Emir of Katsina Approves Turbanning of Three Prominent Indigenes

The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has approved the turbanning of three prominent sons of Katsina State in recognition of their contributions to society and commitment to community development.

The decision was conveyed in a letter dated March 31, 2026, issued by the Katsina Emirate Council and signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Isah Ali Kankia.

Those to be honoured are Alhaji Ahmad Abdumuminimini Kabir Usman, who will be turbaned as Hakimin Dankama (Dan-Majen Katsina); Alhaji Muhammad Dikko Umar, to be turbaned as Hakimin Radda (Gwagwaren Katsina); and Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, FCNA, mni, who will assume the title of Hakimin Muduru (Sarkin Mudurun Katsina).

The three honourees are descendants of the renowned Muhammadu Dikko dynasty, noted for its longstanding legacy of leadership and service in Katsina and beyond.

Ahmad Abdumuminimini Kabir Usman is a son of the Emir, while Muhammad Dikko Umar is the son of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

The turbanning ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 2, 2026, at the Emir’s palace in Katsina, where the traditional titles will be formally conferred.

The Emir’s approval is said to recognise the recipients’ dedication to excellence, leadership, and service, with each title carrying significant responsibilities within the traditional institution and the wider society.

Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Surajo Yazid Abukur, expressed satisfaction with the development, noting that preparations were underway to ensure the ceremony reflects the cultural significance and dignity of the occasion.

Stakeholders and members of the public have been invited to attend the event, which is expected to attract dignitaries from within and outside the state.
