KATSINA — Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Sunday received thousands of new members from various political parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State during his one-day official visit to the state.
The new members were received at the People’s Square, Government House, Katsina, where Shettima and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda addressed the gathering.

Shettima welcomed the new entrants and said their decision to join the APC reflected support for the party and the leadership of Governor Radda.
He also expressed the Federal Government’s support for the Katsina administration and commended the governor’s efforts in the state.

Radda, in his remarks, said the new entrants included former APC members, members of the Action Alliance (AA), former Deputy Legal Adviser of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sallau Karawa, serving lawmakers and other political stakeholders.
He described the development as a boost to the APC’s structure in the state and urged members to remain united.

APC State Chairman, Dr Bashir Gambo Saulawa, welcomed the new members and said the party would integrate them into its structures.

Former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Dr Mustapha M. Inuwa, also welcomed the new entrants and called for unity among party members. He described his return to the APC as a homecoming.
The political gathering was one of several activities during Shettima’s visit to Katsina.

The Vice-President commissioned three road projects totalling 11.2 kilometres: the dualised 4.8-kilometre Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout Road, the dualised 2.4-kilometre Central Police Station Junction–Kofar Kaura Underpass Road and the newly constructed 4-kilometre Filin Polo–Ring Road.

He also launched 30 CNG-hybrid buses and 200 Phase I electric tricycles under the state’s mass transportation programme.

Shettima further participated in the launch of the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU), aimed at expanding economic opportunities for women across Katsina.

The Vice-President later departed Katsina for Abuja from the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport after inspecting a quarter guard mounted by Nigerian Air Force personnel.
Governor Radda, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials accompanied him to the airport.
