Troops Rescue Four Kidnap Victims in Katsina, Intensify Hunt for Notorious Bandit Leader

-

KATSINA — Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnapped victims during ongoing operations targeting notorious bandit leader Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and members of his criminal gang in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government announced the rescue in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu.

The rescued victims were identified as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50.

According to the statement, the victims were freed during sustained military operations in areas where the bandits are believed to be operating.

The government said medical personnel immediately attended to the victims after their rescue, treating them for gunshot wounds sustained while in captivity.

It recalled that the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar had earlier been rescued from the same group. The four victims were among those seen in a photograph taken with the late retired general while they were in captivity.

The state government commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their bravery, professionalism and commitment, noting that their sustained operations continue to record successes in the fight against banditry and kidnapping across the state.

It assured residents that security forces remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements, stressing that ongoing operations would continue until those responsible for acts of terror are apprehended and brought to justice.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, pledging continued collaboration with security agencies to ensure that criminal groups have no safe haven anywhere in Katsina State.
