President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as chairman and vice chairman respectively ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The composition of the campaign council was announced on Saturday, with former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, named Director-General.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as another vice chairman, while Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State was appointed secretary of the council.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.
The President will be supported by an advisory body comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern parts of the country.
They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau in the two zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
The Legal Directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputy directors. Other members of the directorate include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was named Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication.
He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu, while Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were appointed coordinating secretaries of the media directorate.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. The others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
In announcing the council, President Tinubu charged its members to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also directed leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not included in the list but could contribute to the campaign.
The President said his administration had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress, urging the campaign team to highlight the government’s achievements as it enters the campaign season.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.
He urged the campaign team to showcase the administration’s record and “inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” while defeating political forces seeking to reverse the country’s progress.
