Abuja — President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), pending confirmation by the Senate.
The nomination was conveyed in a letter transmitted on Wednesday to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, seeking the upper chamber’s expeditious approval in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006.
If confirmed, Ambassador Yusuf will replace Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned earlier this week after serving approximately 14 months in office.
Ambassador Yusuf is a career diplomat with extensive experience in Nigeria’s foreign service. He most recently served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.
