The Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Local Government Inspectorate, Lawal Rufa’i Safana, has continued his statewide inspection tour with a visit to several project sites in Bakori and Funtua Local Government Areas.
In Bakori, Lawal Rufa’i Safana inspected the Bakori Modern Market and a 200-metre drainage project at Albarkawa Quarters. He directed the local government and contractors handling the projects to come up with a lasting solution to identified challenges and submit a detailed report within one week.
The inspection team later moved to Funtua LGA, where the Special Adviser assessed the construction of staff quarters at Dukke Primary Health Centre. The project had been abandoned for an extended period, prompting Safana to order the LGA to complete the remaining work through direct labour. He also instructed the contractor to settle outstanding taxes related to the project.
Other sites visited in Funtua include a 325-metre drainage at Dukke, a 390-metre drainage with laterite filling at Layin Mustapha Shata, and a 222-metre drainage at Nasarawa. The Special Adviser, however, rejected the Nasarawa project over poor execution, giving the contractor a seven-day ultimatum to correct the defects or face revocation of the contract. He directed the zonal inspector to submit a report with photographic evidence within the stipulated time.
Additional projects inspected were the construction of a 325-metre drainage at Unguwar Musa, a culvert and solar-powered light at Unguwar Ibrahim Graveyard, and the construction of an Administrative Management Centre (AMC) at the Funtua Local Government Secretariat.
Lawal Safana also inspected the rehabilitation of Audu Goya Community Primary Health Clinic and ongoing works at Jabiri and Bagari Primary Health Centres, as well as a low-level drift constructed for the Unguwar Yawa community.
During the visit to Sabuwar Abuja Quarters, a community leader, Alhaji Hamisu Abdullahi, appealed to the state government to establish a primary school in the area to ease educational challenges faced by their children.
Speaking after the tour, Lawal Rufa’i Safana reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that public funds are effectively utilized for projects that deliver real value to citizens. He noted that the inspection exercise was aimed at promoting accountability and ensuring timely completion of all ongoing projects across the 34 local government areas of the state.
