Governor Radda Visits Bakori, Inspects Projects, Flags Off Education Support and Commissions APC Office

-

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Friday continued his statewide engagement tour with a series of activities in Bakori Local Government Area, including project inspections, community engagements, and the launch of an education support initiative.

During a courtesy visit to the palace of the District Head of Bakori, Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris, the Makaman Katsina, Governor Radda commended the traditional institution for its steadfast support to government programmes and its role in promoting peace, unity, and development. He reiterated that traditional rulers remain key partners in driving sustainable progress across the state.

The Governor outlined ongoing interventions in Bakori—ranging from road rehabilitation and school upgrades to improvements in healthcare facilities and expanded agricultural support—designed to boost productivity and improve community welfare. He stressed that security remains a top priority, praising the contributions of traditional leaders, vigilante groups, and residents in enhancing safety across the area.

The District Head, Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris, thanked the Governor for the administration’s strides in security, education, healthcare, roads, and agriculture, and pledged the full support of the people of Bakori.

As part of his engagements, Governor Radda inspected the ongoing construction of the Ahlus Sunnah Hayin Gada Mosque, a community project funded by philanthropist Babangida Jargaba. Expressing satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, he lauded Jargaba for his generosity, describing the initiative as a noble service to the Muslim Ummah and a testament to community-driven development.

Governor Radda noted that philanthropic efforts such as this complement government initiatives to support religious institutions and promote peaceful coexistence across the state. A special prayer session led by Imam Malam Yahaya Kurami sought divine guidance, peace, and stability for the state.

Earlier at the Bakori Local Government Secretariat, the Governor flagged off the distribution of educational materials, including 5,000 exercise books and 100 school uniforms, under an initiative funded by the Chairman of Bakori LGA, Hon. Musa Abubakar Barde, with support from the Engr. Abubakar Abdullahi Matazu Foundation. Describing the intervention as an investment in the future of children, Governor Radda said the programme would help improve learning outcomes and ensure that no community is left behind.

Hon. Barde commended the Governor for granting autonomy to local governments, which he said has enabled Bakori to implement tailored programmes that directly benefit residents. He pledged to sustain similar empowerment efforts.

The Governor also commissioned the newly constructed All Progressives Congress (APC) party office in Bakori, built and donated by the Chairman of the Guga Foundation, Abduljabbar Sirajo. He described the project as a meaningful contribution to strengthening party structures at the grassroots and enhancing political organization and administrative efficiency. Governor Radda praised Sirajo’s commitment to community development and party loyalty.

The Governor was accompanied during the engagements by the Katsina State APC Chairman, Alhaji Salisu JB Daura; senior federal and state government officials; commissioners; special advisers; and community leaders.
