KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
The forms were presented to the governor at the Muhammadu Buhari House by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Murtala Aliyu Kankia, following a consensus process adopted by the party in the state.
Radda described the consensus arrangement as a sign of political maturity and unity within the party, but warned aspirants against complacency as the elections approach.
“This is not the time to relax. Anyone who believes there will be no challenges in the coming elections is only deceiving himself,” he said.
The governor urged candidates who emerged through consensus to return to their constituencies, reconcile with other aspirants, and strengthen ties with stakeholders to ensure the party’s success.
He stressed that reconnecting with the electorate and sustaining engagement at the grassroots would be critical to winning elections.
Radda also commended members of the consensus committees for ensuring a smooth and credible process.
Speaking earlier, Kankia said the distribution of forms followed an agreed consensus framework in Katsina, noting that all eligible aspirants were issued forms for further screening in a peaceful atmosphere.
He added that reports from committees in different senatorial zones had been presented, while that of the Daura zone was still being awaited.
Kankia praised the governor for fostering unity within the party and expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
The event was attended by APC State Chairman Bashir Gambo Saulawa, Wazirin Katsina Ibrahim Ida, Chief of Staff Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Principal Private Secretary Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, former Deputy Governor Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, and other party stakeholders.
