Radda Approves ₦135m Reconstruction of Yankara New Extension Road in Faskari — CPS

-

The Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, has announced that Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has approved the reconstruction of the long-dilapidated access road linking the main highway to Yankara New Extension in Faskari Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the CPS said the Governor made the decision during an empowerment visit to Faskari, where he inspected the failed portion of the road. He was briefed by the Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Hamza Suleiman Faskari, on the road’s significance to the community ahead of the commencement of construction works.

According to the statement, Governor Radda was visibly concerned about the road’s unsafe condition, noting that residents of Yankara New Extension had suffered years of hardship due to the deplorable state of the route. He assured the community that the contractor would mobilise to site immediately for full reconstruction.

The CPS quoted the Governor as saying the intervention was essential to restoring mobility, improving safety, and easing the daily burden of thousands of residents who rely on the road.

Ibrahim Kaula added that Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred infrastructural development across both urban and rural communities, stressing that no part of the state would be neglected.

The statement further quoted Commissioner Hamza Suleiman Faskari as explaining that recurrent flooding had severely damaged the road over the years, washing away large sections and creating dangerous ditches, erosion points, and potholes that made it nearly impassable during the rainy seasons.

He disclosed that the reconstruction project is valued at over ₦135 million and said the approval reflects the State Government’s resolve to safeguard communities vulnerable to environmental and infrastructural decay. The project, he added, would bring lasting relief to residents and enhance economic and social activities in the area.

Other officials who accompanied the Governor during the visit included the Member representing Kankara, Faskari and Sabuwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki; and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji.
