According to him, the attackers stormed the twin agrarian settlements during Guga market day, when many residents had converged on the market to buy and sell goods ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
He said the assailants attacked in large numbers, killing residents, burning houses, rustling cattle, and destroying properties before fleeing the area.
Mahadi stated that the bodies of the victims were taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Guga and were expected to be buried on Monday morning.
He described the attack as one of the deadliest incidents recorded in the area in recent weeks, adding that the affected communities had suffered repeated bandit attacks over the past year.
According to him, the security situation in the area has worsened in the past two weeks, during which at least five other residents were reportedly killed in separate attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from security agencies regarding the incident.
