Newly recruited academic staff posted to Model Special Secondary Schools in Katsina State have officially resumed duty and undergone orientation ahead of the commencement of academic activities.
The teachers, deployed to Radda, Dumurkur, and Jikamshi Model Special Secondary Schools, reported for duty at Model Special Secondary School, Radda, where they were received and addressed by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia.
The orientation session, held at the Radda school, also featured the Chief Executive Officer of Hallmark Consultancy, Zainab Bugaje Jika, who joined the commissioner in briefing the newly appointed teachers on their roles and expectations.
Jibia charged the teachers to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty, noting that their resumption marks the beginning of full responsibilities as government employees.
He disclosed that the Radda Model Special Secondary School is nearing completion, with only final installations ongoing, and is expected to admit students within the next two weeks.
The commissioner further explained that due to limited accommodation at the Radda campus, staff of Dumurkur and Jikamshi schools would be housed outside the premises. He added that both staff and students of the two schools would temporarily operate from the Radda facility until construction of their respective campuses is completed.
He said the recruitment of the teachers forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve learning outcomes under the administration of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
In her remarks, Hajiya Zainab Bugaje Jika urged the teachers to maintain discipline, embrace teamwork, and adhere to professional standards, including proper dressing and best teaching practices.
The resumption and orientation of the academic staff mark a significant milestone toward the full take-off of academic activities in the Model Special Secondary Schools.
The commissioner also inspected ongoing external works at the school to ensure timely completion ahead of the commencement of academic activities.
The event was attended by principals of the affected schools, officials of Hallmark Consultancy, and senior staff of the ministry.
