NEW BANDIT ATTACKS REPORTED IN BAKORI NORTH COMMUNITIES – Two Killed, Motorcycles Snatched as Residents Call for Reinforcement of Kakumi Peace Deal

-

Bakori, Katsina State – November 9, 2025

Fresh attacks by suspected bandits have been reported in parts of Bakori North area of Katsina State on Sunday, November 9, leaving at least two people dead, several injured, and motorcycles snatched at gunpoint.

According to community reports, the armed group was first sighted in the late morning hours, riding on motorcycles west of Gidan Wawu and Gidan Sarkin Noma, before heading southwards toward Dawan La’ilah, along the Guga–Bakori road.

They were later seen at Makera village, located at the edge of Dajin Guga forest, where one person was reportedly shot and fatally injured. Six motorcycles were also said to have been seized by the attackers.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the assailants then rode west towards Ɗanmayaƙi and later appeared in Rawul village, where two residents were killed and farm produce awaiting harvest were set ablaze.

Community leader Mahadi Danbinta Guga, who shared details of the incidents on his Facebook page, described the attacks as part of a recurring security challenge affecting Bakori North, which includes Guga, Kakumi, and Kandarawa.

“These areas have long been familiar with protracted bandit attacks,” he wrote, calling on authorities to “make renewed efforts to ensure that the earlier Kakumi peace treaty becomes a reality and not a mirage.”

He concluded with a prayer, saying, “May it please Allah to provide us with a lasting solution.”
