The Board of Directors of the Katsina State Radio and Television Service (KTRTV) has reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and operational challenges facing the State’s broadcasting stations, with a view to improving service delivery and setting priorities for 2027.
The review took place at the Board’s eighth meeting, the fourth-quarter meeting for 2026, held on Friday, October 16, after the meeting, initially scheduled for Thursday, October 15, was postponed because the Chairman and the two General Managers had other official engagements.

At the meeting, the Board considered developments concerning the expansion of FM radio services, the digital upgrade of Katsina State Television (KTTV), infrastructure development, staffing, programme quality and revenue generation.
The Board reviewed progress on the establishment of the Funtua FM Station and plans for similar services in Daura and Katsina. It also considered the status of renovation works at the Katsina State Radio Service (KTRS) headquarters and the Dutsinma Transmission Station, alongside the proposed upgrade of the AM Station Studio.
On television operations, discussions covered outstanding technical requirements for KTTV’s digital upgrade, including the provision of a downscaler and switcher and the need to improve the station’s earthing system.
Manpower challenges, particularly the need to ensure that newly posted personnel report for duty, also featured in the deliberations. The Board emphasised effective staff deployment, capacity building and improved programme content as important measures for strengthening the stations’ performance.
The meeting also underscored the need to improve internally generated revenue through advertising, sponsorships and other legitimate commercial opportunities, while ensuring accountability and compliance with applicable financial and procurement regulations.
As the Service prepares for 2027, the Board stressed the importance of monitoring project implementation, tracking previous resolutions and establishing realistic targets for infrastructure development, technical upgrades and operational performance.
In a related development, members of the Board congratulated the Chairman, Malam Ahmed Abdulkadir, on his birthday, which fell on Thursday, October 15.

The Board members marked the occasion by purchasing a birthday cake for the Chairman, which they cut together after the meeting.

They also congratulated Abdulkadir on his appointment as Director of Media and Publicity of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Katsina State Campaign Council.
The two General Managers of KTRTV—the General Manager of Katsina State Radio Service and the General Manager of Katsina State Television—were also appointed members of the Campaign Council’s Media Committee.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of effective oversight, constructive engagement with Management and prudent management of public resources in advancing the mandate of the State’s broadcasting institutions.
