Katsina Sets Up Committee to Review District Boundaries

The Katsina State Government has inaugurated a special committee to advise on the delineation of district boundaries across the state, with a view to ensuring fairness, historical accuracy, and administrative efficiency.

The committee was inaugurated at the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, following approval by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

Speaking at the inauguration, the SSG said the initiative was aimed at establishing a clear and equitable framework for the distribution of both existing and newly created districts across Katsina State.

The committee is chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Affairs, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana.

Its membership includes representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, the Katsina and Daura Emirates, the Ministry of Information and Culture, the Chairman of Mani Local Government Area, and a representative from the Governor’s Office.

The committee is mandated to advise the government on fair and appropriate delineation of district boundaries, recommend measures to improve the administration of newly created districts, and co-opt experts where necessary to support its work.

In his remarks, the chairman, Hon. Safana, assured that the committee would carry out its assignment with diligence, fairness, and within the stipulated timeframe.

The committee has been given six weeks to complete its assignment and submit a comprehensive report to the state government.
