KATSINA — Boarding students in Katsina State public schools have resumed for the first term of the 2026/2027 academic session, with day students expected to return to school on Monday, September 7.
The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education announced the resumption in a public statement on Sunday, while expressing concern over reported cases of Apollo, or conjunctivitis, in some parts of the state.
The Ministry advised parents and guardians not to send students showing symptoms of the eye infection to school until they have fully recovered.
It said the precaution was necessary to prevent the spread of the infection among students, teachers and other members of the school community.
“Parents and guardians are therefore urged to ensure that only students who are physically fit and free from any contagious illness resume school,” the statement said.
The Ministry also urged parents to ensure that affected students receive appropriate medical attention and remain at home until they are fully recovered.
It appealed for the cooperation of parents, guardians, school authorities and the general public in protecting the health and wellbeing of students during the new academic session.
