Katsina IGR Jumps to ₦3bn Monthly on Fiscal Reforms — Radda

-

KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda says Katsina State’s monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has increased from about ₦400 million to ₦3 billion, following reforms aimed at blocking leakages and improving accountability.

The governor disclosed this while receiving a delegation from the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), led by Saad Ibrahim Bello, at the Government House in Katsina.

Radda attributed the growth to deliberate fiscal measures, including the adoption of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system and tighter controls on revenue leakages across government institutions.

“Through deliberate reforms, especially the blocking of leakages and the introduction of the Treasury Single Account, we have significantly improved our revenue performance,” he said, noting that the measures have strengthened transparency and efficient resource management.

The governor also said his administration has delivered nearly 90 per cent of its campaign promises, with achievements spanning agriculture, education, MSMEs, public service reforms, and security.

On security, he noted that sustained investments have led to a noticeable reduction in insecurity across the state.

Radda, however, urged the visiting commission to take into account the state’s challenges, including the burden of internally displaced persons and malnutrition. He disclosed that the government has invested over ₦3 billion in establishing stabilisation and Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) centres for malnourished children and their mothers, in collaboration with UNICEF.

He further directed relevant ministries and agencies to provide the RMAFC team with necessary data to support their ongoing exercise.

Earlier, Bello said the delegation was in Katsina to commence a nationwide data verification exercise aimed at improving the accuracy and fairness of revenue allocation among states and local governments, in line with the commission’s constitutional mandate.
