The Katsina State Government has disbursed a total of ₦317,908,402.42 as compensation to 510 farmers whose farmlands were affected by a dam construction project in Ganuwa, Maje and Tsakatsa communities of Charanchi Local Government Area.
The compensation was paid on Monday, December 29, 2025, with the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning, Dr. Faisal Kaita, representing the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, at the exercise.

Speaking during the payment ceremony, Dr. Kaita expressed appreciation to Governor Radda for prioritising the welfare of citizens, noting that in the past, people whose farmlands were affected by public projects often waited for years without compensation.
“Unlike before, when roads or other projects passed through people’s farmlands and compensation was delayed indefinitely, Governor Dikko Radda has ensured that affected persons are paid promptly,” the commissioner said.
He explained that the dam project would bring significant benefits to the affected communities, including reducing unemployment and curbing the frequent migration of youths in search of livelihoods. Dr. Kaita also advised beneficiaries to utilise the compensation funds judiciously to improve their standard of living.
The dam project is part of the Katsina State Government’s broader efforts to promote sustainable development and improve socio-economic activities in rural areas.
The event was attended by community leaders and beneficiaries from Tsakatsa, Ganuwa and Maje.
