-

January 22, 2026

The Katsina State Government has commenced construction of a 27.6-kilometre road linking Sabuwa, Garin-Mazare, Donka Hayin Isau, Rafin-Iwa, Sayau and Harzuwa Tashar-Bawa in Sabuwa Local Government Area.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, officially flagged off the project during a ceremony held in Sabuwa a few days ago.

The road project is being executed by Full Man Construction Nigeria Limited, owned by prominent businessman Alhaji Abdullahi Albasu Dandume, Chairman of A.A. Albasu Nigeria Limited.

Governor Radda said the commencement of the project represents the fulfilment of a campaign pledge he made to the people of Sabuwa during his governorship campaign.

A press release issued by the then Director Media and Publicity, Katsina State APC Campaign Council, Ahmed Abdulkadir, recalled that on January 19, 2023, while touring banditry-affected communities in Faskari and Sabuwa Local Government Areas as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Governor Radda identified the Sayau–Rafin Iwa–Sabuwa road as one of the priority projects requiring urgent government intervention if elected.

According to the governor, although the project was conceived early in his administration, its take-off was delayed due to insecurity in the area, which made it difficult at the time to secure a contractor willing to mobilise to site.

He explained that improved security conditions, sustained peace-building efforts and renewed confidence among contractors have now made it possible for construction work to commence on the long-awaited road.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising rural infrastructure that supports agriculture, trade, mobility and access to essential services across Katsina State.

Residents of the benefiting communities have welcomed the project, describing it as a major relief and a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to deliver on its campaign promises.
