The Katsina State Executive Council has approved a series of projects aimed at improving access to clean water, strengthening agricultural processing, boosting skills development, expanding housing, and deepening reforms across the education and health sectors.
The approvals were issued on Wednesday during the council’s 18th regular meeting held at the General Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina, and chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, said the council endorsed the construction of a small-town water scheme at Tsagero in Rimi Local Government Area. He explained that the project would guarantee steady access to clean and potable water for Tsagero and neighbouring communities.

The council also gave the green light for the establishment of the Dr. Dikko Radda Cassava/Gari Processing Centre in Batsari Local Government Area to support cassava production and expand agro-processing activities in the state.
Zango added that, as part of efforts to enhance youth empowerment, the government approved the supply and installation of equipment, machines, and tools for 28 departments at the Katsina Youth Craft Village to boost skills development and improve employability.
In the housing sector, the council approved the construction of 150 completed housing units alongside 350 serviced plots equipped with essential facilities in a bid to address the rising demand for accommodation within the state metropolis.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, announced that the council had approved a rural teachers’ allowance of ₦30,000 per term, amounting to ₦90,000 per academic session. He said the incentive was designed to encourage teachers to accept and remain in rural postings, thereby improving teaching commitment and quality.
Jibia also disclosed plans to establish three Teacher Development Centres in Katsina, Daura, and Funtua senatorial zones to strengthen teacher capacity. According to him, the centres will run regular training programmes facilitated by experts from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Isah Kaita College of Education, and experienced retired teachers.
On healthcare, Special Adviser on Tertiary Health Institutions, Umar Mammada, said the council approved recommendations of the Interministerial Task Force to supervise and monitor private health facilities across the state. He noted that the move would improve regulatory compliance and enhance standards in private healthcare delivery.
Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Kaita, announced the immediate implementation of the reviewed master plans for Katsina, Funtua, and Daura, describing it as a major step toward ensuring orderly development and modern infrastructure in the state’s major urban centres.
The council similarly endorsed the 2026 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan designed to improve ease of doing business and attract new investments.
The series of approvals, officials said, underscore Governor Radda’s commitment to building a more prosperous and inclusive state under his “Building Your Future” agenda.
