Katsina Governor Approves Over ₦305 Million for Medical Students’ Allowances

-

Katsina, Nigeria — November 3, 2025

The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to human capital development in the health sector with the approval of over ₦305 million for the payment of allowances to indigenous medical students across various institutions.

In a statement issued by the Hospital Services Management Board (HSMB), Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, approved the sum of ₦305,510,507.09 for disbursement to 565 medical students from the state. The package covers both regular student allowances and a special project allowance for final-year students.

Confirming the development, the General Manager of the HSMB, Dr. Muhammad Nazir Shehu, described the gesture as part of the administration’s deliberate investment in strengthening the state’s healthcare system through capacity building.

“This is a deliberate investment by the government to ease the burden on our students, allowing them to concentrate fully on their demanding academic curricula,” Dr. Shehu stated. He urged all beneficiaries to reciprocate the government’s gesture with dedication and academic excellence, noting that they represent the future of the healthcare system in Katsina State and Nigeria at large.

The initiative, according to Dr. Shehu, aligns with Governor Radda’s broader policy of creating a conducive environment for health training and ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified medical professionals to serve the state’s growing population.

The statement was signed by Muhammad Kabir Ahmed, FCAI, Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board, on behalf of the General Manager.
