The Katsina Emirate Council has announced the official programme of activities for the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebrations, outlining a series of traditional events to be led by the Emir of Katsina.
In a statement dated March 17, 2026, and signed by the Council’s Secretary, Alhaji Isa Ali Kankia, the Emirate invited residents and visitors to participate in the Sallah festivities, while also urging strict adherence to the schedule and existing security guidelines.
According to the programme, activities will commence on Wednesday, March 18, with preparatory engagements at the Emir’s palace, including meetings with district heads and key traditional titleholders.
On Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, the main Eid celebrations will take place. The Emir is expected to observe the traditional Sallah prayers at the Eid ground, followed by customary homage from titleholders and a ceremonial procession from the Eid ground through Kofar Soro to the palace.
The schedule also includes royal visits, horse-riding displays, and greetings from traditional leaders, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Emirate.
The events will conclude on Saturday, March 21, with the Hawan Bariki (Durbar), during which the Emir will ride in a grand procession from the palace to key locations within the city, receiving homage from district heads and the public before returning to the palace.
The Council prayed for peaceful and successful celebrations and called on residents to maintain order and cooperate with authorities throughout the festive period.
