The Katsina Emirate Council has approved the turbanning of eight newly appointed District Heads across the emirate.
The decision was reached during a special meeting of the Katsina Emirate Council presided over by the Emir of Katsina, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The meeting deliberated on important issues concerning the administration of the emirate, with particular emphasis on strengthening unity, mutual understanding and cooperation among members of the council and other stakeholders.
Following the deliberations, the emirate announced that the turbanning ceremony for the eight District Heads would take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Those scheduled to be turbaned are:
- Alhaji Sani Tukur Mu’azu Sarkin Ruman Katsina — District Head of Batsari.
- Alhaji Abba Lawal Sani Dutsi (Gabasawan Katsina) — District Head of Dutsi.
- Alhaji Gambo Abdullahi Dabai (Dausayin Katsina) — District Head of Dabai.
- Alhaji Zakari Maina (Dan Yusufan Katsina) — District Head of Bindawa.
- Alhaji Sanusi Kabir Usman (Karshin Katsina) — District Head of Shinkafi.
- Alhaji Abdurrashid Nuhu Yashe (Bebejin Katsina) — District Head of Kusada.
- Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika (Marusan Katsina) — District Head of Shargale.
- Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Kogo — Sarkin Kogon Katsina.
The announcement was subsequently made on Tuesday, August 18, by the Secretary of the Katsina Emirate Council, Alhaji Isa Ali Kankia, on the directive of the Emir.
The special meeting also considered measures to improve the administration of the emirate and promote sustainable development, with the Emir stressing the importance of consultation, unity and mutual understanding in the conduct of traditional affairs.
Those in attendance included the Secretary of the Katsina Emirate Council, members of the Emir’s Council and other stakeholders.
The council prayed for Allah to grant the emirate the opportunity to witness the turbanning ceremony in peace, safety and good health.
