Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has assured public servants that the ongoing staff verification exercise is meant to identify genuine personnel and existing vacancies in the civil service, not to victimize workers.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday when he appeared before the verification committee at his office as part of the statewide exercise.
Governor Radda said the verification exercise is aimed at sanitising the civil service, eliminating irregularities and ensuring that only bona fide workers remain on the government payroll.
He acknowledged that the process may be demanding for some workers, but stressed that it is a necessary step towards building a more efficient, transparent and accountable public service.
According to the governor, the exercise will result in a credible and accurate personnel database that will support effective planning, sound financial management and improved service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.
He explained that a reliable staff record is critical to good governance, fiscal discipline and the proper management of human resources in the state.
Governor Radda urged civil servants to cooperate fully with the verification committee, assuring them that the process would be conducted with fairness and transparency.
He emphasised that genuine workers have nothing to fear, adding that the outcome of the exercise would create room for the recruitment of more young and qualified people into the state civil service.
The governor said the initiative aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of youth employment, institutional reform and the strengthening of public sector capacity.
Governor Radda reaffirmed his commitment to reforms that promote accountability, efficiency and professionalism in the Katsina State civil service, calling on all stakeholders to support the exercise.
Those present during the governor’s appearance included the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; the Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and the chairman of the verification exercise committee.
