Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged to dualise the Bakori main road to ease persistent traffic congestion, particularly on market days, when heavy vehicular movement has often led to accidents and loss of lives.
The governor made the commitment on Tuesday when members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Bakori Local Government Area paid him a solidarity visit in Katsina. The road, which divides Bakori town into two, is a major federal highway linking Katsina and Kano states.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Bakori APC Stakeholders and Commissioner for Livestock Development, Professor Ahmed Muhammed Bakori, presented a list of development requests from the area. Chief among them was the construction of a General Hospital, noting that Bakori/Danja is the only one among the state’s 15 federal constituencies without such a facility.
Professor Bakori also appealed for the construction of a bye-pass to reduce congestion during market days, as well as the reconstruction of the Bakori–Guga Kakumi road and the Bakori–Kafur road to enhance commercial activities between the two local government areas, particularly livestock trading.

Earlier, the Chairman of Bakori Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde, commended Governor Radda for ongoing development projects in the area, stating that the administration had executed at least one project in each of the local government’s 11 wards.
Engr. Abdulrahman Ahmad Kandarawa
In his remarks, the member representing Bakori at the Katsina State House of Assembly, Engr. Abdulrahman Ahmad Kandarawa, said the area had witnessed relative peace following his role in facilitating a peace accord between communities and bandits.
However, a former chairman of Bakori Local Government, Mansur Aminu, popularly known as Bragger, expressed concern over internal disagreements among stakeholders in the area and called for the governor’s intervention. In response, Governor Radda announced that he would convene a meeting of critical stakeholders from Bakori to address and resolve the grievances.
Members of the Bakori APC stakeholders present at the visit included the Board Chairman of Katsina State Radio and Television Services, Malam Ahmed Abdulkadir; the General Manager of Katsina State Radio, Alhaji Lawal Attahiru Bakori; Alhaji Rabi’u Gambo Bakori, a former PDP Katsina State Chairman, among others.
Also in attendance were the Katsina State APC Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Sani Daura; the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Shamsu Sule; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; and a former Chief of Staff to the Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Jabiru Tsauri, among others.
