Governor Radda Inspects Radda Model Smart School Ahead of Commissioning

-

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has carried out an unscheduled inspection visit to the Radda Model Smart School in Charanchi Local Government Area, ahead of its commissioning.

The Governor spent over two hours at the project site on Wednesday evening, carefully assessing the level of work and the readiness of the facility for official opening. The visit, according to officials, was aimed at ensuring that contractors deliver the project strictly in line with approved specifications and timelines.

The Radda Model Smart School is considered one of the flagship projects of the Radda administration, designed to expand access to quality education for gifted, talented and underprivileged children across Katsina State.

Governor Radda was taken round the various sections of the school by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, alongside project consultants, members of the commissioning committee and contractors handling the project.

Briefing the Governor, the Chairman of the Commissioning Committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Alhaji Nura Saleh Katsayal, disclosed that the male and female hostels were designed to accommodate a total of 1,000 students in line with the approved plan.

The school has been equipped with a mini solar-powered grid to ensure uninterrupted power supply, while cleaners and facility managers were observed putting finishing touches to classrooms, hostels, laboratories and the general environment ahead of the commissioning ceremony.

It was also gathered that processes for student admission and teacher recruitment have reached advanced stages, with assurances that due process and merit-based selection are being strictly followed.

Officials of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education said arrangements are in place to ensure that selected students from the state’s 361 electoral wards benefit from the school, pending the completion of other Special Model Smart Schools in the Daura and Funtua Senatorial Zones.

Work is also progressing at similar school projects located in Jikamshi, Funtua Zone, and Durmukol, Daura Zone, as part of the state government’s plan to replicate modern learning environments across Katsina State.

During the visit, Governor Radda also held a meeting with the recently inaugurated Committee on the Commissioning of the Radda Model Smart School to review readiness plans, timelines and outstanding tasks ahead of the school’s official opening. The committee is mandated to oversee the commissioning process and ensure that all standards are fully met before academic activities commence.

The Governor was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; the Executive Secretary of the State Development Management Board, Dr. Mustapha Shehu; CDP Coordinator, Dr. Kamaluddeen Kabir; Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Kabir Gafia; and the Director-General of KATDICT, Mr. Naufal Ahmed, among other top government officials.

The inspection visit was confirmed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
