The Federal Government, under the 2025 Implementation Committee on Needs Assessment, has approved funds for the procurement of a 100-Seat Capacity CNG Hybrid Bus and for the installation and testing of Department of Civil Engineering equipment at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA).

The Federal Government has also approved additional funds through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), under the Year 2026 Intervention, for the procurement of assorted textbooks, journals, office equipment and furniture for the development of the FUDMA Library, as well as network and hardware facilities for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support projects.

This was made known during the Public Opening of Technical Tender Documents for the two interventions, for the selection of qualified bidders for the projects.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman, said “FUDMA will strictly adhere to due process and diligence as enunciated in the acts for awarding contracts.”

He informed the contractors who submitted their proposals that “in every competition, there must be winner and loser,” and therefore advised them to accept the result of the exercise in good faith.

Prof. Othman stated that the doors of the University would always be open for advice in areas the participants thought needed improvement, expressing his gratitude to the companies that indicated interest to work for the growth and development of FUDMA.

The Chief Procurement Officer, Hamisu Garba Mele, shedding more light on the bid opening, stated that “FUDMA invited interested, competent and eligible suppliers with relevant experience and proven track records to participate in the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) processes in accordance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act and Revised Standard Bidding Documents regulations for procurement of goods.”

Mele added that “the projects were advertised in two national dailies and the Federal Tenders’ Journal and invited all the companies that applied, the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP), Certified Civil Society Organisations, Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), Non-Governmental Organisations, Relevant Professional Bodies, members of the University Tenders’ Board (UTB) and interested members of the public” to witness the process.

Members of the FUDMA Management Staff, Contractors, Consultants, members of the Civil Society Organisations, and officials of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the University attended the bid opening exercise.

The high point of the occasion was the official opening of technical tender documents by the Chief Procurement Officer, Aminu Yakubu Usman.
