FG Launches School Safety Policy in Katsina to Tackle Violence, Insecurity

-

KATSINA — The Federal Government has launched the Katsina State Policy on Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools, aimed at protecting students from insecurity and ensuring a safe learning environment across the state.

Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, unveiled the policy during the commissioning of the Radda Model Smart Secondary School in Katsina, describing it as a critical step toward strengthening confidence in the education system.

Alausa said the initiative aligns with the Federal Ministry of Education’s national framework designed to safeguard schools from threats such as violence, disruption, and kidnapping.

“The safety of our children is non-negotiable. Schools must remain sanctuaries of learning where students can study without fear,” he said.

He noted that the responsibility for securing schools lies with all stakeholders, including government, educators, and communities, and commended Katsina State for swiftly adopting and implementing the policy.

The minister also praised Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for prioritising education reforms and child protection through sustained investments in infrastructure and human capital.

He further acknowledged the role of the Commissioner for Education, Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, in driving the implementation of both federal and state education initiatives.

According to the minister, launching the policy alongside the commissioning of the model smart school reflects the state’s integrated approach to education development, combining infrastructure, policy reform, and student safety.

The Katsina State Government said the move underscores its commitment to creating secure and conducive learning environments for all students.
