LWhen a group of retired, pioneer, and former staff of Katsina State Television (KTTV) and Katsina State Radio decided to reunite in 2020, few could have imagined that their camaraderie would evolve into one of the most promising digital journalism ventures in northern Nigeria. Today, that idea has materialized into Fasaha Stream — an online newspaper that aims to blend experience, integrity, and innovation in storytelling.
Behind this bold new venture is a team of seasoned professionals — journalists, broadcasters, producers, and creatives — each bringing decades of expertise to the table.
Below are brief profiles of the founding members driving the vision of Fasaha Stream.
Ahmed Abdulkadir — The Visionary Convener
Ahmed Abdulkadir, a veteran journalist, broadcaster, writer, and media strategist, is the initiator of the Fasaha Stream idea. Having started his career as a teacher before moving into journalism and public communication, Ahmed has long advocated for innovation in local media. His knack for mobilizing professionals around shared values led to the creation of the “Past KTRTV Staff” WhatsApp group in 2020 — the seed from which Fasaha Stream grew.
He began as a teacher before joining Katsina State Television (KTTV), where he produced and anchored current affairs and documentary programmes, was a news reporter, news editor, eventually becoming Manager, News and Current Affairs, and subsequently, the General Manager of the station. He was briefly transferred to Katsina State Radio, while he was Manager News at KTTV, later joined the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and rose to the position of Director, serving as Zonal Director in Kaduna, Sokoto, and Maiduguri.
Ahmed is a recipient of numerous awards and commendations for excellence in journalism, documentary production, and public service.
A global media participant, Ahmed has represented Nigeria in numerous conferences and workshops across Africa, Europe, and the United States. Since retiring in 2018, he has remained deeply engaged in media, agriculture, and public service initiatives, and now leads Fasaha Stream’s strategic direction.
He continues to play a central role in shaping the editorial and strategic direction of the platform, ensuring that it remains focused on credible journalism and community-centered content.
Lawal Ahmed — The Digital Storyteller Bridging Tradition and Technology
Lawal Ahmed
Lawal Ahmed is a highly accomplished broadcast professional, documentary filmmaker, educator, and digital media innovator whose career embodies the intersection of creativity and technology.
Between 1996 and 1998, he produced a landmark series of Project Tracking Documentaries that monitored public fund usage in Katsina, Kano, and Gombe States under the defunct Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF). The works, hailed for their precision and depth, promoted transparency long before “accountability journalism” became a buzzword.
A prolific content creator and trainer, Lawal has taught courses on filmmaking, editing, writing, and content strategy both locally and internationally. As Director of Programmes and later Zonal Director at NTA Lagos, he pioneered the establishment of NTA’s first 24/7 OTT streaming and Video on Demand (VOD) service — a milestone in Nigerian broadcast digitization.
Now the Managing Director and CEO of Modela Hybrid Ltd, a digital media and AI storytelling company, Lawal brings a rare fusion of traditional broadcasting experience and digital innovation to the Fasaha Stream team.
Sada Salisu Rumah — The Broadcast Strategist
Sada Rumah, Ɗanwairen Katsina, is one of Katsina State’s most respected broadcast planners and programme producers. His career spans both radio and television, with notable contributions to audience development and creative content management.
A former Director of Programmes at KTTV and later Director of Administration and Supplies at the Katsina Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sada has produced several acclaimed documentaries — including a nationwide production on the Nigeria Police during the tenure of the late IGP Ibrahim Coomassie, aired on the NTA Network Service.
Armed with a fresh Ph.D. after retirement, Sada remains passionate about storytelling with purpose. At Fasaha Stream, he is focused on building a platform that combines journalistic integrity with strategic content delivery.
Muhammad Abubakar — The Newsroom Engine
Muhammad Abubakar brings to Fasaha Stream a wealth of newsroom experience and editorial discipline. A respected journalist, editor, and broadcaster, he retired as a Director and Zonal Director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Maiduguri Zonal Centre.
Before that, he honed his craft as a radio announcer at Katsina State Radio and as a producer and presenter of current affairs programmes at NTA. Known at KTTV, and later NTA, for his meticulous approach to news management, Muhammad emphasizes factual reporting, ethical storytelling, and editorial balance — principles that define Fasaha Stream’s newsroom culture.
Sadisu Bara’u Imam – The Programme Craftsman
Sadisu Bara’u Imam
Sadisu Bara’u Imam is a creative producer and programme designer with years of experience in broadcast presentation and production. He belongs to the group of professionals who shaped the early character of Katsina’s radio programming.
At Fasaha Stream, Sadisu brings his storytelling flair to the platform’s emerging audio-visual content, helping to blend news delivery with cultural and documentary elements. His approach ensures that the outlet doesn’t just inform but also educates and entertains.
Born in Kankia, he spent over 35 years in public service, rising from producer to Director in the Katsina State civil service. Sadisu is also a prolific writer who authored over a hundred articles on education, environment, culture, religion, and national rebirth across Nigerian newspapers in the 1980s and 1990s.
He brings to Fasaha Stream a passion for community-driven journalism and a voice that bridges the elite and the ordinary.
Abba Yusuf Muhammad — The Creative Visualist
A gifted graphic artist and visual designer, Abba Yusuf Muhammad is the creative mind behind Fasaha Stream’s visual identity — including its distinctive logo and branding elements. His artistic vision brings coherence to the platform’s aesthetics, ensuring that its visual storytelling matches its editorial depth.
Abba’s experience in television design and broadcast graphics gives Fasaha Stream a modern, professional edge in today’s visually driven digital environment.
Halima Abbas – The Voice of Balance
Halima Abbas adds a unique dimension to Fasaha Stream as one of its female founding members. With a background in TV and radio presentation and community communication, she brings a strong sense of social awareness and gender inclusivity to the team’s editorial agenda.
Her calm but firm voice represents the platform’s commitment to inclusiveness, empathy, and the amplification of women’s perspectives in media and public discourse.
Together, these seven individuals represent a cross-generational blend of creativity, experience, and purpose. What unites them is not just their shared past in broadcasting, but their shared belief in the power of truth-driven, people-centered journalism.
From analogue airwaves to the digital cloud, the Fasaha Stream founders are proving that the story of northern Nigerian media is far from over — it’s simply evolving.
