The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has concluded a four-day assessment tour of education projects across 11 Local Government Areas in Daura Senatorial Zone, as part of the statewide monitoring exercise ordered by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Led by the Governor’s Media Assistant, Bashir Ya’u Bershow, the team inspected completed and ongoing projects under the AGILE, TESS, SUBEB/UBEC, BESDA, and state-funded interventions aimed at improving access, infrastructure quality, and learning outcomes in both basic and secondary schools.
Days 1–3: Major Improvements Across Baure, Zango, Daura, Mai’adua, Sandamu, Mashi, Dutsi and Mani LGAs
Across the first eight LGAs visited, the team reported substantial progress in school rehabilitation, new classroom construction, provision of toilets, water facilities, ICT labs, sports fields, staff offices, and improved learning materials.
In Baure and Zango LGAs, AGILE and TESS interventions delivered renovated classrooms, gender-friendly toilets, water systems, and new furniture across dozens of primary and secondary schools, including GDSS Babban Mutum, GGSS Baure, Yan Maulu Secondary School, and Dargage Secondary School.
In Daura, Mai’adua, and Sandamu LGAs, the team documented major upgrades such as:
- Construction of multipurpose laboratories
- Solar-powered computer laboratories equipped with 21 HP All-in-One systems
- Renovation of over 100 classrooms across multiple secondary schools
- Sports facilities including volleyball, basketball, football and “Fives” courts
- Comprehensive SUBEB/UBEC projects in primary schools, including new blocks of classrooms, boreholes, staff quarters and VIP toilets
Schools such as GSSS Daura, GGJSS Daura, GSSS Gurjiya, Family Support Daura, GSSS Kalgo-Gari, GSS Yandi, GSS Mai’adua, GSS Bumbum, and Government Commercial College Mai’adua recorded extensive facility upgrades.
In Mashi, Dutsi and Mani LGAs, the inspection revealed wide-ranging BESDA/TESS and SUBEB/UBEC projects, including:
- New and rehabilitated classrooms in over 40 primary schools
- Boreholes, overhead tanks, and water systems
- New secondary schools such as GPJSS Dan-Marke, GSS Bindawa, GPJSS Bagiwa and others
- Special grants to 13 secondary schools
- Targeted interventions for urgent infrastructure needs in eight schools across Mani LGA
Day Four: Kankia, Kusada, Ingawa and Bindawa LGAs Inspected
On Day Four, the delegation toured Kankia, Kusada, Ingawa, and Bindawa LGAs to verify the status of government-funded projects.
Education Secretaries in the LGAs welcomed the team, commending Governor Radda for sustained investments in:
- Classroom renovation and construction
- Modern teaching and learning materials
- Solar water systems
- ICT facilities
- Teacher welfare and capacity building
- Provision of vehicles, motorcycles and computers for supervision and administration

Kai Kai Girls Boarding Secondary School
– Renovated dormitories, upgraded exam hall
– Renovated clinic and Home Economics lab
Zorori Primary School
– Extensive classroom renovations and borehole installation
Danmarke Secondary School
– New storey-block of six classrooms
– Additional four-classroom block and toilets
Bindawa Secondary School
– Storey-block classrooms, new examination hall
– Science laboratory, staff offices
– Newly constructed NYSC lodge
Other schools visited include Dudunni SS, Dambo Abubakar PS, Tafashiya PS, Kauyen Dawa PS, Kawarin Nasarawa PS, Kirkini PS, Kangi PS, Dan Yusufa PS, Doro PS, Bindawa PS, among many others.
Conclusion
With the completion of the tour of Kankia, Kusada, Ingawa, and Bindawa, the assessment for the Daura Zone is now fully concluded.
The Ministry stated that the monitoring exercise will continue across all 34 LGAs of Katsina State to ensure transparency, accountability, and sustained progress in the education sector.
Officials reaffirmed Governor Radda’s determination to rebuild the sector through modern infrastructure, strengthened school governance, ICT-driven learning, and improved teacher welfare.
