The Council of Ulama of Nigeria, Katsina State Branch, has announced new financial benchmarks for key Islamic obligations, following its recent deliberations. The decision was reached after adopting the value of the Dirham as the standard of measurement, replacing the use of the U.S. Dollar for calculations.
According to the Council, the updated figures are as follows:
– Minimum Sadaki (Dowry): ₦35,088.03
– Nisabin Zakat (Threshold for Zakat): ₦2,339,202.00
– Diyyar Rai (Blood Money Compensation): ₦140,353,120.00
The Council emphasized that these adjustments aim to ensure fairness and consistency in religious financial obligations, aligning them more closely with Islamic tradition.
In a statement, the Council expressed gratitude to Allah for guiding the process and prayed for peace and prosperity for the Muslim community.
This move is expected to bring clarity and ease to Muslims in Katsina State and beyond, as they fulfill their religious duties in accordance with Sharia principles.
