Bandits Kill 11 in Ramadan Night Raid on Dansoda Village, Katsina State – Karaduwa Post Reports

-

Dansoda, Dandume Local Government Area, Katsina State – March 11, 2026

In a tragic incident during the holy month of Ramadan, armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Dansoda village in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State late on the night of 20 Ramadan (corresponding to March 10, 2026), killing at least 11 residents and leaving several others seriously injured.

According to a detailed report from Karaduwa Post, the assailants stormed the community after many residents had completed their evening prayers (Maghrib and Isha) and were resting following the day’s fasting. The gunmen opened indiscriminate fire, causing widespread panic and chaos among the villagers.

Local sources cited in the report confirmed the deaths of 11 people, with numerous others sustaining severe gunshot wounds. Investigations are ongoing to determine if any residents were abducted during the assault.

The attackers reportedly moved through the village shooting sporadically, heightening terror among the fasting population who had sought peace after breaking their fast earlier in the evening. The brutal raid has plunged the community into deep sorrow and mourning.

Residents described the incident as a grave injustice against peaceful, fasting Muslims observing Ramadan. Bodies of the deceased were buried this Wednesday morning (March 11) around 9:00 a.m., in accordance with Islamic rites.

Community members continue to pray for Allah’s mercy on the departed souls, swift recovery for the injured, and an end to such recurring attacks that have plagued the region despite previous local peace efforts and arrangements with armed groups. This latest violence comes amid reports of multiple bandit incidents across Katsina State in recent days, including separate attacks in nearby areas, further underscoring the persistent security challenges in rural communities during this sacred month.

Katsina State authorities and security agencies have not yet issued an official confirmation or statement on the Dansoda attack as of late Wednesday afternoon. Displaced and affected families are in urgent need of support as the community grapples with grief and fear.
