BAKORI, Katsina State — The first batch of youths selected from Bakori Local Government Area for the Forest Guards programme has departed for Katsina to undergo training, with the local government providing each recruit ₦20,000 and covering their transportation costs.

The recruits were seen off by the Bakori Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde, who urged them to be good ambassadors of the local government and discharge their responsibilities with honesty, discipline and commitment to protecting lives and property.

Barde said the local government would provide each of the recruits with ₦20,000 and sponsor their transportation from Bakori to Katsina for the training.

He also urged the recruits to remain responsible to their families and communities and warned them against misconduct, stressing the importance of upholding the trust placed in them.

The chairman disclosed that three other youths included among those selected could not join the first batch but would proceed to Katsina when they are able to do so.

Speaking at the send-off, the Katsina State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Professor Ahmed Mohammed Bakori, commended the youths for volunteering to contribute to the protection of lives and property.

Professor Ahmed, who is also the Bakori Local Government Chairman of the APC Stakeholders Committee, prayed for the recruits’ safe journey, successful completion of their training and safe return home.

He encouraged them to remain committed to the responsibilities entrusted to them, saying their decision to serve in a security-related role was worthy of commendation.

Barde also appealed to the member representing Bakori Federal Constituency to maintain contact with the recruits during the training by visiting them and monitoring their welfare.

Similarly, the member representing Bakori Local Government in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Engr. Abdulrahman Ahmad Kandarawa, described the recruits as young people who had committed themselves to protecting the lives and property of members of their communities.

Kandarawa said anyone who dedicates himself to protecting the lives of others deserves recognition and prayers, and assured the recruits of continued support from the local government.

The council also confirmed that arrangements had been made for the payment of salaries to those selected for the Forest Guards programme.

The deployment was presented by the local government as part of efforts to create opportunities for young people while strengthening security and protecting lives and property, with support from the Federal Government, the Katsina State Government and Bakori Local Government.

The recruits were wished a safe journey, productive training and successful completion of their assignment.
