All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from the 34 local government areas of Katsina State have pledged unity, renewed grassroots mobilisation and unrelenting support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following a high-level consultation convened by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The meeting, held at Government House, Katsina, brought together party elders, elected officials and grassroots leaders, and was aimed at consolidating party structures, strengthening governance coordination and sustaining development efforts across the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Radda described unity and cooperation within the party as critical to political stability and development. He thanked stakeholders for their loyalty and noted Katsina State’s historic role in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, including its consistent support for successive administrations.
The governor assured party members that his administration would continue to deliver dividends of democracy across all parts of the state, while calling on APC appointees and leaders to return to their polling units, wards and local governments to reinforce grassroots engagement ahead of the planned endorsement of President Tinubu.
On the ongoing APC electronic membership registration exercise, Governor Radda urged leaders to take the process seriously, stressing that effective registration was vital for party organisation. He disclosed that he personally participated in the exercise in his ward to encourage compliance.
Governor Radda also announced the constitution of several committees to review party activities, monitor grassroots structures known as Yan Tara, and assess projects executed by state, local and federal governments. He further emphasised peaceful coexistence as the foundation for sustainable development in the state.
Katsina Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe
Earlier, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal presented a comprehensive overview of the administration’s achievements over two and a half years, noting that development projects had reached all 34 LGAs and 361 wards. He cited the recruitment of 7,325 teachers, sponsorship of students from rural communities, and the implementation of AGILE education projects as key milestones.
In agriculture, the deputy governor said the state invested nearly ₦70 billion in mechanisation, fertiliser distribution and farm inputs, with mechanisation centres and sub-centres established across the LGAs. He also highlighted improvements in security, including over 11 months without major attacks, enhanced road access, community-based security through the Community Watch Corps, and the release and reintegration of repentant bandits.
Other achievements listed included payment of pensions and gratuities, procurement of streetlights valued at over ₦3.5 billion, and a transition to solar-powered street lighting.
In his welcome address, APC State Chairman, Hon. Sani JB Daura, expressed satisfaction with the wide participation from all LGAs and urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and fully participate in the e-registration exercise.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, explained that the newly constituted committees would also review the recent Tinubu endorsement event and verify projects executed at different levels of government. He noted that the governor had supported grassroots mobilisation with logistics, including motorcycles, to aid the delivery of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking on behalf of APC stakeholders from the 34 LGAs, Alhaji Salisu Mamman reaffirmed support for Governor Radda and pledged assistance for the e-registration exercise, including the provision of internet routers to ease the process.
Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari inaugurated the 34 Local Government Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Coordinators, describing the initiative as a strategic platform to deepen grassroots engagement and effectively implement President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the community level.
The meeting was attended by top party leaders and government officials, including the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Masari; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Yahaya Daura; former governors Ibrahim Shehu Shema and QS Mannir Yakubu; senators, members of the National and State Assemblies, local government chairmen and members of the State Executive Council.
