Tinubu Approves Upgrade of Funtua General Hospital to Federal Teaching Hospital

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Saturday announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the upgrade of the Funtua General Hospital to a Federal Teaching Hospital, marking a major milestone for healthcare development in the Funtua zone.

Governor Radda made the disclosure during a meeting with stakeholders from Funtua Local Government Area, held shortly after his recent two-day working visit to the zone. He also confirmed that a Chief Medical Director has already been appointed to pioneer the new federal facility.

The Governor described the development as a significant achievement for the people of Funtua, noting that such an upgrade will expand access to advanced medical care, boost training opportunities for health professionals, and enhance the impact of the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology in the area.

The Governor met with a broad delegation of community stakeholders—including traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, business leaders, and political representatives—who expressed deep appreciation for his administration’s commitment to inclusive and people-oriented governance.

They commended the steady progress recorded in agriculture, education, social welfare, infrastructure, and human capital development, stressing that Funtua residents “will not forget the positive impact” of the Governor’s policies.

Governor Radda, in response, thanked the people of Funtua for their unrelenting support. “Whatever we are able to achieve in Katsina State is not by our strength, but by the will of Allah and the prayers of our good citizens,” he said. He also praised the unity among community, religious, and political leaders in the area, describing it as vital to sustainable development.

In a related development, the Governor visited the Funtua Mobile Police Force Squadron, where he inspected ongoing culvert and drainage works within the premises. During the visit, Senator Muntari Mohammed Dandutse donated 10 motorcycles and three Hilux vehicles to enhance security operations in the area—a gesture the Governor described as commendable.
