Katsina Plans New FM Radio Station for Funtua

-

The Katsina State Government has concluded plans to establish a new Frequency Modulation (FM) radio station in Funtua to expand broadcasting services and improve access to timely information across the zone.

As part of preparations for the project, the state government has handed over the designated site at the Katsina State Television (KTTV) booster station in Jabiri, Funtua Local Government Area, to the contractor handling the project.

The Permanent Secretary, Katsina State Ministry of Information, Alhaji Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali, and the General Manager of Katsina State Television, Malam Abba Zayyan, led the contractor on an inspection of the site.

The team inspected locations earmarked for key components of the proposed station, including the transmitter room, studio complex, master control room, administrative block, staff quarters, water supply facilities and power infrastructure.

The station, when completed, is expected to improve signal coverage across Funtua and neighbouring communities while strengthening the capacity of the state-owned broadcasting network.

It will also provide platforms for local news, public enlightenment, educational programmes, cultural content, community-based programming and public service announcements.

The project is expected to decentralise state-owned broadcasting services beyond the state capital and enhance communication between government and residents in the Funtua axis.

The contractor assured the state government that the project would be executed in line with approved specifications and delivered within the stipulated contractual period, while observing the required technical and operational standards.

In a related development, the contractor and representatives of the state government paid a courtesy visit to Alhaji Kabir Bature, Sarkin Alhazai and Chairman of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Bature expressed support for the proposed FM station, prayed for its successful completion and commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for initiating the project.

The establishment of the station forms part of the Katsina State Government’s broader efforts to modernise its information and broadcasting infrastructure and extend government-owned media services to communities across the state.
