NAHCON Reviews Hajj Operations, Releases 2027 Pilgrimage Calendar

-

MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia — The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reviewed the conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations at the holy sites and announced the release of the operational calendar for the 2027 Hajj exercise.

The announcement was made during a post-Arafat stakeholders’ meeting held on the night of May 31, 2026, at La Rose Al Sindi Hall in Al Kakiyyah, Makkah.

The meeting brought together NAHCON officials, representatives of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Hajj administrators, Ulama and other stakeholders involved in the ongoing pilgrimage.

Participants received progress reports on activities at the major Hajj sites of Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Jamarat, reviewing both achievements and challenges encountered during the exercise.

Among the concerns raised at the meeting were overcrowded accommodations at some locations, inadequate toilet facilities, reports of substandard food services affecting some state contingents, health-related challenges and gaps in communication and information dissemination.

The National Ulama Team also presented a report highlighting its role in educating and guiding Nigerian pilgrims from their departure in Nigeria through their stay in Madinah and Makkah.

As part of efforts to promote national unity and seek divine intervention for the country, State Pilgrims Welfare Boards were urged to organize special prayers and Tawaf for peace, stability and progress in Nigeria.

A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the operational timetable for the 2027 Hajj exercise had been released, a development expected to facilitate early planning and preparations by states and other stakeholders.

The Katsina State delegation at the meeting was led by the Amirul Hajj, Barrister Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq.

Other members of the delegation in attendance included the Board Chairman, Alhaji Kabir Bature (Sarkin Alhazai); the Executive Director of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama; Director of Operations, Dr. Nasir Ɗan-Zaria; and Director of Finance and Accounts, Alhaji Sagir Abdullahi Inde.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by NAHCON and stakeholders to assess the performance of the 2026 Hajj operation and identify areas for improvement ahead of future pilgrimages.
