The Katsina State Government has commended the Katsina State Police Command for the arrest of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy in Katsina metropolis.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, the government praised the professionalism and swift response of operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) led by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the police following the kidnapping of the child on May 13, 2026.
The victim was reportedly abducted while returning from an Islamic school in the Sardauna Housing Estate area of Katsina metropolis.
The government identified the alleged leader of the syndicate as Nura Aliyu, popularly known as Nura Garwa, adding that exhibits connected to the crime were also recovered during the operation.
The state government described the arrest as another sign of the administration’s commitment to strengthening security through collaboration with security agencies.
“This breakthrough further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the administration of Dikko Umaru Radda towards strengthening security across Katsina State through strategic collaboration with security agencies,” the statement said.
The government stated that Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration would continue to provide support and an enabling environment for security agencies to effectively discharge their duties.
It also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing efforts against kidnapping and other crimes.
“We urge residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state,” the commissioner stated.
The government reassured residents that they could continue their lawful activities without fear, insisting that efforts to sustain security gains across the state would continue.
Dr. Mu’azu added that Governor Radda, on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, commended the police command for the successful operation and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
