KATSINA — The Katsina State Government has commenced the distribution of subsidised fertiliser to farmers, with strict warnings against price inflation beyond the approved rate of ₦25,000 per bag.
The distribution exercise was flagged off in Banye community of Charanci Local Government Area by Kamaluddeen Kabir, Coordinator of the Community Development Programme (CDP), who supervised the handover of fertiliser to farmers who had earlier completed payment.
Reports indicate that the Charanci Local Government facilitated the payment process for beneficiaries under the 2026 rainy season fertiliser programme earlier launched by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in Malumfashi.

Kabir said the government had already taken responsibility for transporting the fertiliser to all designated distribution points across the state, ensuring that farmers receive their allocations without additional costs.
He warned that it is a serious offence for anyone to sell fertiliser above the government-approved price, stressing that any such consignment would be confiscated and offenders prosecuted.
“It is a grave violation to increase the price of fertiliser beyond the approved rate. Anyone found doing so will face legal action,” he said.
The CDP coordinator added that monitoring teams, including officials from anti-corruption and public complaints agencies, have been deployed to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice during the distribution process.
He also disclosed that the state government has approved ₦100,000 for each ward to support logistics, as well as five bags of fertiliser for committee members overseeing the exercise.
The initiative is part of efforts by the state government to support farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, and ensure food security across Katsina State.
