KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has commissioned two major road projects valued at over N26 billion across Katsina State, in a significant push to boost infrastructure, ease transportation, and stimulate economic activities.
The projects include the 39-kilometre Shargalle–Dutsi–Ingawa road, constructed at a cost of N13.9 billion, and the Yandaki–Kofar Sauri road, delivered at about N12.6 billion.
At the commissioning of the Shargalle–Dutsi–Ingawa road in Ingawa, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni described the project as a strategic investment that will enhance trade, agriculture, and socio-economic development in the area.
Buni commended the Katsina State Government for modernising the road more than five decades after its initial construction, noting that the upgrade would improve connectivity and the living standards of residents.
Governor Radda said the project represents his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and rural development, adding that the road would reduce travel time, improve safety, and open up economic opportunities for communities along the corridor.
He noted the historical significance of the road, which was first constructed during the administration of the late Balarabe Musa and later reconstructed under the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua when he served as governor of Katsina State.
Meanwhile, at Yandaki in Kaita Local Government Area, Governor Radda also inaugurated the Yandaki–Kofar Sauri road, constructed at a cost of N12.6 billion, with Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu performing the commissioning.
Radda said his administration remains committed to delivering quality projects without incurring debt, assuring that no contractor handling government projects in the state is owed.
He emphasised that the roads are part of efforts to leave a legacy of credible governance and demonstrate that leadership can be transparent and accountable.

Governor Aliyu, in his remarks, commended his Katsina counterpart for the developmental strides recorded, attributing the progress of governors in the North-West to support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the Yandaki–Kofar Sauri road would significantly ease movement and improve economic activities in the area.
Governor Mai Mala Buni
Also at the Shargalle–Dutsi–Ingawa event, Governor Mai Mala Buni received a large number of defectors from opposition parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a boost to political unity and stability.
The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Sani Magaji Ingawa, said the 39km road was executed by Mothercat Limited with technical support from Al’Amin Consult, adding that it was completed within specification and would improve safety and connectivity.
The Managing Director of Mothercat Limited, Maroun Ghostine, disclosed that the project was completed within 12 months, ahead of the initial 16-month timeline.
Dignitaries at the events included the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly Nasir Yahaya Daura, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Muttaqa Rabe Darma, former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, and the Emir of Daura Umar Faruk Umar, among others.
