The Katsina State Community Development Programme (CDP) has announced the commencement of the sale of government-subsidised fertiliser for the 2026 rainy season, targeting farmers across the state’s 361 wards.
According to a public statement issued on March 14, 2026, the fertiliser will be sold at a subsidised rate of ₦25,000 per bag as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and support farmers ahead of the planting season.
The distribution has been structured across the three senatorial zones of the state. Polling units in the Katsina Zone will receive 50 bags each, while those in Daura Zone are allocated 45 bags per unit. In Funtua Zone, each polling unit will receive 60 bags.
In addition, each ward has been allocated fertiliser for 10 large-scale farmers, with each beneficiary entitled to 10 bags under the programme.
The CDP urged beneficiaries to cooperate with Community Development Officers (CDOs), Community Learning Officers (CLOs), and Community Support Officers (CSOs) during the registration and distribution process. Farmers are also required to present valid means of identification to ensure accurate documentation.
To ensure transparency, the list of beneficiaries for each ward will be displayed at Community Development Centre offices across the state.
The programme coordinator, Dr. Kamaladdeen Kabir, said further details on distribution modalities would be communicated in due course, urging farmers to take advantage of the initiative to enhance food production during the 2026 farming season.
